Pensioner with huge swollen leg dies from tumours after ‘begging docs for treatment for years’

A TRAGIC pensioner who battled an "Elephant Man" deformity has died amid claims he was neglected by doctors who "refused to treat him".
Michael's Cull's best friend Christina Brooks claims he spent his final days screaming in agony from the four stone tumours in his leg.
She alleges Mr Cull, a former NASA computer technician, had pleaded with health professionals to treat him for years, only for the surgery to be axed at the last minute each time.
Grieving Ms Brooks said: "I'm considering reporting the doctors who dealt with Michael to the police.
"This is manslaughter.
"If they'd listened to him and got the operation done he'd still be alive today.
"He went through hell because of what they did to him.
"The doctors responsible shouldn't get away with this.
"He was in so much pain I heard his screams before I got to the ward".
Mr Cull, of Rosehearty, Aberdeenshire, believed he had elephantiasis - a parasitic infection that causes extreme swelling in the arms and legs.
He had considered amputation and was said to have suffered cruel jibes in public.
Six weeks ago Michael had two biospies which uncovered the two tumours, but the disease had already spread to his blood cells.
Ms Brooks, also from Rosehearty, said: "He was told the tumours had been there for two years.
"If they had pulled their finger out and done something they'd probably have been able to stop the cancer."
