Mayor punched in the face after judging a SANDCASTLE contest
Worthing's first citizen Sean McDonald says he was attacked because of his job
A MAYOR is nursing a black eye from being punched after judging a sandcastle contest.
Sean McDonald, 58, had gone over to chat to a group of homeless men after spotting that one of them was injured.
The dad of two was concerned that somebody was "bleeding profusely from a head wound".
But he said one of them noticed his mayoral chains and lashed out.
The mayor of Worthing, West Sussex, said: “One came up to me, swore at me, then punched me in the face.
“He just seemed angry that I was the mayor.
“It was obvious who I was.”
