Judge quizzed by cops over bizarre feud with bar owner who banned his dog from pub

A JUDGE has been quizzed by police over claims he harassed a bar owner who banned his dog from a pub.

Simon Newell, 65, was alleged to have wreaked revenge on Michael Robinson, 46, who said Marley was only welcome in the beer garden.

Judge Newell parked his blue Golf GTI outside the bar and stuck a series of posters calling for “woof justice” in the front windscreen.

It also had a picture of Marley with a mocked-up gag on his mouth.

One notice claimed the bar had incorrect planning permission.

A second called Mr Robinson “fat” and without “class”.

But a later notice said a “very chastened Marley” would “bark no more” after police intervention and apologised “unreservedly to the blameless and saintly Mr Robinson”.

Judge Newell had taken Marley to Barrique wine bar in Lytham St Annes, Lancs, on a Saturday night.

Staff said pets were not allowed in as they serve food and offered him a patio table instead.

But it was alleged the judge stormed off, later beginning his bizarre campaign.

Mr Robinson also claims he saw Judge Newell on CCTV moving the bins outside the wine bar.

A source said: “It is not like they barred his dog and let others in.

“He refused to sit outside with his dog, but why would you want to take your dog into a bar on a Saturday night when it’s full of people?”

Police said they had spoken to both parties and no crime had taken place.

Judge Newell refused to comment.
