HOUSE Speaker Nancy Pelosi waved off a reporter who asked about Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar's comments comparing Israel and the US to Hamas and the Taliban.

"Earlier this week, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar was on our - " was all the reporter was able to eke out before the California Congressmember cut in.

"Well let's stay with this and I'll answer that afterward," Pelosi told the reporter after interrupting.

The speaker's press conference was geared on creating a panel for the select committee to probe into the January 6 Capitol riots.

Pelosi never got back to the reporter's question, which was referencing new "partners in justice."

Omar appeared on CNN this week saying she does not regret even after she previously explained her words.

"I think it’s really important for these members to realize that they haven’t been partners in justice. They haven’t been, you know, equally engaging in seeking justice around the world," Omar told CNN's Jake Tapper.

Tapper had asked Omar about her comparison and other comments Omar had made in the past regarding Israel, asking: "Do you understand why some of your fellow House Democrats, especially Jews, find that language anti-Semitic?"

In a February 2019 tweet, Omar said the US-Israel alliance is "all about the Benjamins" and she claimed in 2012 that Israel "has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel."

Earlier in June, Omar blasted Jewish House Democrats for being "Islamophobic"

"It’s shameful for colleagues who call me when they need my support to now put out a statement asking for ‘clarification’ and not just call,"  after House Democrats asked her to clarify her comments in comparing the US and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban.

"The islamophobic tropes in this statement are offensive. The constant harassment & silencing from the signers of this letter is unbearable," Omar continued.

In response, Omar welcomed discussion.

"I’ve welcomed, you know, anytime my colleagues have asked to have a conversation, to learn from them, for them to learn from me," she said. "And I think, you know, I will continue to do that."

"It is important for me, as someone who knows what it feels like to experience injustice in ways that many of my colleagues don’t, to be a voice in finding accountability, asking for mechanisms for justice for those who are maligned, oppressed, and who have had injustice done to them."

Pelosi has already come under fire for Omar's remarks.

Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said he would remove Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee should Republicans get into power

Likewise, House Republicans have continued calling on Pelosi to remove Omar.
