Shock pics show abandoned toddler surrounded by trash near Mexico border before Trump’s visit to crisis zone tomorrow
SHOCKING pictures show a migrant boy thought to be as young as two years old shirtless and surrounded by rubbish near the US-Mexico border ahead of Donald Trump’s visit to the region tomorrow.
The boy was on Monday near an overcrowded truck that had carried more than 100 migrants in suffocating conditions, the national immigration institute said.
The institute released a partially blurred photo of the boy, who authorities believe could be from , standing at the side of a road surrounded by trash bags, empty water bottles, and abandoned clothes.
He appears to be holding his head in his hands with his back against the metal barrier on the roadside.
A picture taken later showed him dressed and being cared for by state workers.
Authorities are now trying to track down the boy's family.
Other travelers who had been crammed into the truck had mostly abandoned the scene before authorities arrived.
Eight adults from Central America remained and described the situation which led to the packed truck stopping and being abandoned.
They claimed the group demanded the driver stop after several people fainted from dehydration and the lack of air, the institute
"None of the adults said that they were a family member of the minor," the statement added.
The abandoned vehicle was found at the Ocozocuautla-Las Choapas road in Veracruz state.
According to data from the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), thousands of unaccompanied children have crossed the border illegally from Mexico to the US this year.
Vice President Kamala Harris visited a border guard near the US-Mexico border last week as she claimed that she was focused on finding a practical solution to migration.
She was tapped by Biden as his border czar earlier this year.
Earlier this month, Harris visited Mexico and Guatemala on her first international trip.
The White House claimed that she was meeting with local governments to focus on the “root” causes of migration.
During the trip, Harris has refused to name a date by which she would visit the US border with Mexico.
Yet she was criticized last week after quickly organizing a trip days after it was announced that former president

"I have accepted the invitation of Texas Governor Greg Abbott to join him on an official visit to our Nation's decimated Southern Border on Wednesday, June 30, 2021," a statement announcing his trip said.
"The Biden Administration inherited from me the strongest, safest, and most secure border in US history, and in mere weeks they turned it into the single worst border crisis in US history.
