Who are Shaun King's parents?
Shaun King was born on September 17, 1979, in Versailles, Kentucky.
King's birth certificate names Jeffrey Wayne King as his father, but in 2015, King told the his mother, Naomi Kay, told him his biological father is a light-skinned black man.
“The reports about my race, about my past, and about the pain I’ve endured are all lies. My mother is a senior citizen.
"I refuse to speak in detail about the nature of my mother’s past, or her sexual partners, and I am gravely embarrassed to even be saying this now, but I have been told for most of my life that the white man on my birth certificate is not my biological father and that my actual biological father is a light-skinned black man,” King said in a statement to The Post.

“This has been my lived reality for nearly 30 of my 35 years on earth. I am not ashamed of it, or of who I am—never that—but I was advised by my pastor nearly 20 years ago that this was not a mess of my doing and it was not my responsibility to fix it.

King said his mother was married and divorced several times - as she raised him and several siblings as a single mother.
The civil rights activist said that he never knew who his biological father was.

Is Shaun King married?
Shaun King has been married to college lecturer, Rai King, since 2001.
The two met in Sunday school as teenagers and began dating in 1996.
Since tying the knot the two have parented five children: three biological kids and two adoptive children.
Their kids include two daughters and one son. Additionally, the pair adopted two of King's nieces named Zayah and Taeyonna.
Apart from their family of five, the two have fostered an array of children over the years.
Where is Shaun King now?
On March 11, 2024, King shared via Instagram Live that he and his wife have converted to Islam, stating Shaun was influenced by the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
The ceremony was with King saying the "past six months of suffering, pain and trauma that we’ve seen in Gaza.
"It has touched me in the most profound ways to see people right now in the most dangerous, traumatic place on the planet still be able to sometimes look at nothing but rubble and the remains of their family, and still see meaning and purpose in life.
"Their faith and their devotion to Islam has not only opened my heart but has opened the hearts of millions of people around the world."
