ALTON TOWERS SCAM

Theme park warns families that offer for ‘free tickets’ circulating on Facebook is a FAKE

The bogus offer says claimants will receive five free passes to the theme park - but they must first fill out a dodgy questionnaire

ALTON Towers is warning of a scam circulating on social media that offers claimants five "free tickets" to the theme park.

Those attempting to claim the phoney tickets must fill out a dodgy online questionnaire - a likely attempt at malware.

The theme park and hotel says the offer, which has been circulating on Facebook, is not genuine.

It says it is attempting to get the scam offer removed from the site and, in the meantime, is asking people not to be taken in.

In a message on its Facebook page, Alton Towers wrote: "We have been made aware of a social media scam offering free tickets to Alton Towers Resort that is currently circulating on Facebook.

"This is NOT an official offer or affiliated to Alton Towers Resort in any way.

"Whilst action is taken to remove the scam, we would strongly advise against sharing your details or the post."

The offer appears in the form of a ticket coupon created to look like an official voucher or offer.

Titled "FREE 5 TICKETS", it uses the company's official logo, contains a bogus list of terms and conditions, and links to a phony website.

A spokesman told The Sun: "The scam claims to offer five free tickets to Alton Towers Resort in return for completing a short survey and sharing the post with friends.

"Any official social media competition run by Alton Towers Resort will appear on the verified Alton Towers Resort social media page(s) and if anyone is unsure about the legitimacy of a social media competition relating to Alton Towers Resort should contact us immediately."
