Prince Andrew's eldest daughter will leave her post at a New York investment firm to become a business consultant - but only once she has returned from holidaying in the Greek islands with friends.

The job-hopping jet-setter's latest trip abroad comes just five weeks after she holidayed in the south of France.

In June sources said the daughter of Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson was to be "let go" from her role with Manhattan firm Sandbridge Capital.

The claim was denied by aides who said Beatrice was only in Britain in June for a "work project" and to support the Queen during her 90th birthday celebrations.

The aides insisted she had moved to "another department within the same company" and that she would return to the firm in July.

But last week the Daily Mail were told she had not been at her desk for two months, and after calling Sandbridge they were allegedly told she "is no longer with the company".

Sources have since told the paper Beatrice has resigned to form her own company.

"She and some other people have set up a consultancy business under the auspices of Sandbridge Capital."

The friend confirmed Beatrice was not sacked, added: "She was working, she resigned and is now concentrating her efforts on this start-up.

"She should be applauded for striking out on her own, not vilified."
