Dramatic moment F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone’s mum-in-law is reunited with her daughter after being FREED from kidnappers without paying £28million ransom in daring police raid
Aparecida Schunk was abducted in Brazilian city of Sao Paulo ten days ago
F1 MOGUL Bernie Ecclestone’s mother-in-law was freed from kidnappers in a daring police raid last night.
Aparecida Schunk, 67, hugged friends and family as they were reunited after her terrifying ten-day ordeal as hostage.
Mum of Ecclestone’s Brazilian wife Fabiana Flosi, Schunck was found tied up but unharmed during the raid in Sao Paulo.
Speaking to the waiting press, she sighed: “I just ask that the crooks do not kidnap anyone else in Sao Paulo because they will be arrested.”
No shots were fired as three police cars swooped on the hold-up and arrested two men.
They were named as Vitor Oliveira Amorim and Davi Vicente Azevedo.
Police tracked them down by monitoring Whatsapp messages – while it is believed they were finally located after using Schunk’s credit card.
The pair wanted £28 million delivered in cash in four separate bags to guarantee her safety.
None of the ransom has been paid and two suspected kidnappers have been arrested.
Ms Schunk was found unharmed after a major police operation to rescue her, cops in Sao Paulo reported early Monday morning.
The city’s elite anti-kidnap division had been leading the search for Ms Schunk, who is the mum of Ecclestone’s wife Fabiana 39.
It is not clear exactly who is behind the kidnapping.
But police believe someone from outside Brazil masterminded the elaborate abduction after finding out her connection to Bernie’s F1 fortune.
Ms Schunk was taken from her home in the wealthy area of Jardim Santa Helena during the early hours of Friday 22 July.
Her two maids were also at the residence when the intercom sounded and two men claimed they were delivering a box.
After one maid answered the door the kidanppers, thought to be in their late teens, barged in and took all three hostage.
Motor racing mogul Ecclestone has since increased security around his family.
Ecclestone met Ms Shunck’s daughter Fabiana in 2009 in the run-up to the Brazilian Grande Prix in Interlagos, where she was working as marketing director for Brazil’s F1.
The couple wed three years later after he divorced his wife of 25 years, Croatian model Slavica Radic.
The tycoon’s divorce settlement with Ms Radic was estimated to be a whopping £594 million — reportedly the biggest in UK history.
Formula 1 boss Ecclestone is the UK’s fourth richest person with an estimated £3.2billion fortune.
