Stunning pictures of giant TORNADO tearing towards village pub in Suffolk
Chef takes amazing snaps of fierce twister
SPECTACULAR pictures show the moment stunned pub-goers watched a huge twister head towards their beer garden.
The massive tornado looks like something from a Hollywood blockbuster – but these snaps were in fact taken in a quiet Suffolk village.
Punters watched in amazement as the dramatic weather moved in on The Kitchen restaurant in Thorpeness.
Chef Phil Hannam took the pictures at 8.30pm last night during a break from the kitchen.
Restaurant manager Amy Youngs said: "It was muggy and stormy yesterday and we had all sorts of weather, but we've never seen a tornado over Suffolk before.
"We were stunned when Phil came back and showed us the photo on his mobile phone."
The mega cloud-funnel could have been taken from a scene in the 1996 movie Twister.
Tornados are more commonly seen in America but Phil and his colleagues were stunned to see it circling over their sleepy coastal village.
Customers gathered in the beer garden to nenjoy the spectacle.
Twisters are violently rotating columns of air stretching from cloud storms to the ground.
The biggest ones can include wind speeds of more than 300 miles per hour and cause mass devestation.
In 2010 the village of Great Livermere near Bury St Edmunds was damaged by a tornado.
