David Cameron to dish out honours to his wife’s stylist and close pal George Osborne
Several other cronies will be honoured as a reward for their failed campaign to keep Britain in the EU
DAVID Cameron is to dish out gongs to wife Samantha’s stylist and close pal George Osborne.
A number of other cronies will be honoured as a reward for their failed campaign to keep Britain in the EU.
Sources say stylist Isabel Spearman has been nominated for an OBE in his resignation honours, which have to be approved by a committee of grandees and the Queen.
Two years ago Mr Cameron’s barber Raffaele Claudio Carbosiero was awarded an MBE for “services to hairdressing”.
The ex-PM has suggested axed Chancellor Mr Osborne become a Companion of Honour while closest aide Thea Rodgers is set to get an OBE.
Four Cabinet colleagues are recommended for knighthoods including new Chancellor Philip Hammond, Defence Secretary Michael Fallon, Commons leader David Lidington and former Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin.
Leaked papers show Mr Cameron wants to award 48 aides, allies and financial backers.
Businessman Ian Taylor, who has given the Tories £1.6million, and Andrew Cook, who donated more than £1million, are also up for knighthoods.
A source last night said: “This list stinks.
“It’s nothing more than a reward for failure, patronage and chums.
“I expected better of David Cameron.”
