Munich shopping centre and train station evacuated
Pasing Arcaden and Pasing station closed and area sealed off after phone call to cops warning of explosive device
BOMB squads evacuated a shopping centre and train station in Munich this afternoon.
Police ushered people out of the The Pasing Arcaden shopping centre and Pasing railway station in the west of the city and sealed off the area.
After receiving a phone call warning of bomb, cops combed the area for anything suspicious but found nothing.
Munich Police earlier said in a series of tweets: "Currently, the Pasing Arcaden and the Pasing station are closed.
"This is a precautionary measure after a message.
"A phone message was received and we are investigating the background.
"We ask all to remain calm, more information to follow."
The Pasing Arcaden centre has 150 shops and is visited by thousands every day.
It is located less than five miles from the Munich Olympia Shopping Centre (OEZ), where deranged gunman Ali Sonboly massacred nine people just over a week ago.
The German-Iranian teen is said to have lured people to a McDonald's with the promise of free food before going on a shooting rampage.
It was later revealed Sonboly was undergoing psychological treatment for mental illness and was obsessed with mass-shootings.
German investigators said there was an “obvious link” between the shooting and far-right Norwegian killer Anders Behring Breivik.
A friend told BILD newspaper Sonboly had a picture of Breivik as his Whatsapp profile image, and said he was a “fan of mass murders”.
