HONEYMOON FROM HELL

Dad spends days hooked up to a drip in Turkish hospital after eating undercooked chicken on dream break

He said he had noticed food on previous nights had looked undercooked

A DREAM family holiday became a nightmare when a dad-of-three ended up in hospital hooked up to a drip after eating dodgy food.

Mark Swannell, 46, spent several days in hospital after he was rushed away in an ambulance as he succumbed to a severe gastric illness.

The family had been staying in a Turkish resort for the trip in October 2014.

It was a belated honeymoon and a 40th birthday trip for Mark's wife, Nicola.

Mark says he ate under cooked food, and had previously cut into some chicken which was still bleeding in the middle during the holiday.

He added that some food was left uncovered for long periods of time and looked as though it had been severed at more than one sitting.

He also said cats were allowed to roam around public areas of the hotel the family were staying at.

Mark, from Dewsbury, West Yorks., said: "The whole point of the holiday was that it was a great chance for us to get away together as a family to celebrate Nicola's 40th birthday, while we were also treating it as our belated honeymoon.

"It was supposed to be a fantastic break for us, but it ended up being nothing short of a holiday from hell when I fell ill.

"It was a complete nightmare and we had no option but to get medical assistance from the hotel doctor due to the condition I was in.

"I never expected to be rushed to hospital in an ambulance when I booked the holiday, but that's how I ended up."
