A BEAUTY therapist who died in a suspected honour killing while visiting family in Pakistan was strangled, a post morten has shown.
Despite her family's claims she died of natural causes, a post-mortem has revealed Samia Shahid, from Bradford, had a 7.5 inch wound to her neck.
Confirmation of her cause of death comes days after her father, cousin and ex-husband were arrested after having told her second husband she died of natural causes.
She died visiting relatives in her ancestral Punjab village of Pandori last Wednesday.
Her second husband Syed Mukhtar Kazam, who married Samia in Leeds in 2014, believes his wife was murdered by family who disapproved of their marriage.
Pakistan Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told The Sun police had shared the post mortem report with him.
"The family’s claims that she died of natural causes are apparently wrong and we have ordered a reinvestigation.
"The reinvestigation is aimed at a murder case rather than a natural death case. The new investigators are sure the family’s claims about natural death are not true."
Earlier this week Samia's father denied being involved in her death, saying if he was proven to be the killer he was "ready to be hanged".
Regional Police Officer Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja said: "The accused are arrested and after interrogations we hope to find out the truth.
"The post-mortem report that saliva was oozing out of her mouth and she had wound mark on her neck indicates she was suffocated to death.
"Since the wound mark is fresh and dated at the time of death there is little doubt she has been killed."
After the results confirmed Samia had been killed, Mr Kazam told The Sun her family had "never accepted our love marriage".
He accused her ex-husband Muhammad Shakeel Chaudhry of being the "main character" involved in her murder.
"I have been told to apply for permission to exhume her body. I will do that if necessary."
