SHOCKING footage shows an ‘English passenger’ violently attacking German airport police – knocking three officers to the ground with heavy punches.

Filmed in the early hours of Saturday morning at Frankfurt Airport, the astonishing video shows a disgruntled man, 38, arguing loudly with staff at the airport check-in desk reportedly shouting "I am a British citizen”.

The incredible situation, which was captured and uploaded to Facebook by rapper Schwesta Ewa, quickly descends into chaos when a woman believed to be his wife is knocked over during the argument.

The stocky brawler then starts to manhandle three police officers - knocking them to the ground with punches and kicks.

The man, wearing a white t-shirt and jeans, is then subdued by a staff member reportedly using a Taser and is now being investigated by German authorities over alleged assault charges.

Bad weather at the weekend led to a number of flights being cancelled and thousands of passengers being stranded at Frankfurt airport.

Musician Ewa posted the viral footage, which now has over two million views, along with this caption: “Today at the Frankfurt airport. What's going on in this world."

reports that a large crowd had gathered inside the airport and were angry at delays to their flights.

Germany is on heightened alert following a spate of terror attacks which have rocked the country.

However Frankfurt police released a statement insisting the incident was isolated and had been dealt with quickly.

The statement read: "Due to the bad weather in the night from Friday to Saturday flights were cancelled.

"Several thousand passengers were stranded at the airport.

"A 38-year-old English passenger (who wanted to fly to England) was at the info desk and verbally attacked an airline employee.

"In addition, members of the federal police attempted to calm the situation down.

"Unfortunately without success - it suddenly came to a physical confrontation of colleagues with the passenger, as seen in the video.

"The colleagues and the passenger were slightly injured.

"Frankfurt police are investigating the English passenger over an alleged assault."
