BOOZY Brits put on their glad rags and hit the town for a third night out in a row - making the most of the long weekend with no work to worry about on Monday.

There will likely be more than a few sore heads in the morning as crowds of beaming ladies and lads once again went out on the lash on Sunday night - with the streets of Newcastle and Leeds swarming with punters.

With the sun streaming down, Brits have been taking full advantage of the three-day weekend by packing out pub gardens and lining up the beers at bars.

And ahead of Bank Holiday Monday, tipsy revellers squeezed in one more night of boozing, filling city centres to the brim.

But the final Bank Holiday hurrah took its toll on a few, with one girl donning stilettos in Leeds snapped being carried by a pal, while another sat bare foot on a pavement.

Others clutched their heels as they made their way home after a day of drinking.

One group of girls even finished off their night tucking into a takeaway perched on a bench with temperatures helpfully warmer after weeks of rain and cold.

Meanwhile, a group of men cheered and put their thumbs up for the camera as they celebrated the second weekend of the return of indoor drinking since pubs reopened to indoor customers.

And in Newcastle, groups of boozers smiled and wrapped their arms around each other to celebrate relaxed rules on hugging.

Birmingham's Broad Street was also busy again, with groups snapped queueing to get into bars while others danced in the streets.

But the fun isn't set to end, as hundreds are set to whack out the BBQ on Monday as temperatures continue to soar.

Forecasters say Monday is set to be the hottest day of the year so far, with a 25C scorcher predicted.

Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin said: "Sunglasses, a sun hat and sun screen are definitely required this weekend.

"Finally, some warm sunshine on offer this May after what has been a very, very chilly month."

And Mr Deakin's colleague Matthew Box said the news would be a "welcome change" for many.

He said: "Given that we have had a reasonably cold and then a wet couple of months through spring, with April being cold and May being wet and cloudy and generally on the cool side too, we've got a sunny end to May."

The warm weather is set to continue for the first half of June as the Met Office's long-range forecast predicts the heatwave will stay for up to two weeks.

Brits were  in the third stage of Boris Johnson's roadmap to freedom.

From May 17, we've been able to head abroad, sit inside with friends and family and even have casual sex.

But a return to normality looks set to be delayed amid the spread of the Indian mutation.

Currently, it's hoped all restrictions will lift on June 21 - meaning clubs could open, huge crowds could return to the football and festivals would be able to take place.

However, while the Government hopes to scrap social distancing next month, face masks and work from home guidance could stay in place beyond 'freedom day'.
