Beauty therapist who mysteriously died on Pakistan holiday ‘was victim of honour killing for marrying outside family’
Samia Shahid, 28, was buried quickly and her hubby told she died of heart attack
A BRIT beauty who died mysteriously in Pakistan has claimed she was the victim of an ‘honour killing’, her husband has claimed.
Samia Shahid, 28, who was originally from Bradford died visiting relatives in the Punjab village of Pandori on Wednesday.
He second husband Syed Mukhtar Kazam, who lived with her in Dubai, believes she was murdered for marrying outside the family.
Her relatives told him she died of a sudden heart attack or asthma attack after she was buried in a village graveyard.
Pakistan cops claimed a quick post-mortem was carried out and have found no visible injuries or signs of violence on her body.
But Mr Kazam, who married her at Leeds Town Hall in September 2014, sensationally says she was killed by her family because they refused to accept her marrying an ‘outsider’.
He told the Guardian: “I am sure my wife is killed by the family.
“She was healthy. And she had no disease.
“I believe she was killed because her parents were not happy with our marriage.”
Ms Shahid’s father has slammed Mr Kazam’s as “lies and allegations”.
He said Samia has visited Pakistan “on her own and was not under any pressure from her family”.
Samia’s local MP Naz Shah has now asked that her body is exhumed and an independent autopsy is carried out.
The Labour politician said: “I'm not going to rest until I'm satisfied I know the cause of her death.”
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are providing support to the family of a British national who has died in Pakistan, and are in contact with the local authorities to seek further information.”
A police investigation is underway in Pakistan but no arrests have been made in the case.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “A report was made to West Yorkshire Police last week regarding the alleged death of a 28-year-old woman from Bradford in Pakistan.
“Following this report, officers engaged with the Foreign Office who have since confirmed her death.
“Enquiries are now continuing with the relevant authorities to establish the cause.”
Earlier this month Pakistan's answer to Kim Kardashian, Qandeel Baloch, was strangled to death by her brother in an honour killing.
The murderer said he was “not embarrassed' to have killed her.
