Where is Sophie: A Murder In West Cork filmed?

A NEW Netflix documentary examining the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier in Ireland in 1996 will be released on Netflix on 30th of June.

Sophie Toscan Du Plantier, a film and TV producer, was savagely beaten to death outside her isolated holiday cottage in West Cork, Ireland, on 23 December 1996.

Netflix announced that Sophie: A Murder In West Cork will be released on 30th of June.

The three-part series is produced by Simon Chinn, the man behind Searching for Sugar Man and Man on Wire.

It will feature contributions from Sophie’s family, including her son Pierre-Louis Baudey and Ian Bailey, the man who was found guilty of the murder by a French court.

He maintains his innocence.

Bailey, a journalist who had written articles on the investigation, was the prime suspect in the case and was arrested twice in association with the murder in 2019.

There is no forensic evidence to link him to the scene of the crime.

Where is Sophie: A Murder In West Cork filmed?

Sophie Toscan du Plantier was bludgeoned to death at her holiday home in the small town of Schull in West Cork on 23 December 1996.

Her body was discovered near the remote cottage by a neighbour with her skull crushed.

Sophie was 39 years old when she was murdered.

She was married to fellow French film producer, Daniel Toscan du Plantier

The Garda file on the case remains open and unsolved.
