They have now revealed how they locked themselves in the house and waited for cops to arrive after hearing the shots ring out at around 2.30am.

Jason, 21, told : “Everybody was shouting ‘Call the police, call the police’ while others were screaming ‘A man is dead, a man is dead’.”

Summerlyn, 29, told how she ran back inside after hearing a shot as she stood outside the front of the house.

She said: “It sounded like a bottle of pop popping.

“People started screaming and running.”

The pair added that they had no idea what motivated the attack or who carried it out.

They said they did not even know who had been killed.

And they said they had apologised to the local community for the dreadful events that happened at the bash.

But they insisted the brutal slaying was not their fault, and said the atmosphere on the night of the party was good natured.

Cops revealed yesterday that they had arrested two people in connection with the murder of an unnamed 34-year-old victim.

She said: “This is a shocking turn of events at what had been billed as a private pool party and would has been witnessed by a number of people.

“In the last half an hour, officers had arrested two people – one on suspicion of murder, one on suspicion of assisting an offender.

“Our investigation is continuing and if you were at this event, have any footage of what happened and have not spoken to the police I urge you to come forward.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw a white and black mini which left the scene following the incident.

“At this stage we believe the weapon used in the shooting was a handgun, which hasn't been recovered.

“There continues to be significant police presence in the loan area but we want to ensure the local community we do not believe there is any ongoing risk to Headley residents.

“At this time, our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the man who died.

“We're in the early stage of a fast-moving investigation and a number of lines of enquiry are being followed.”
