Staycationing Brits will splash £31bn on UK holidays this year – here’s the top places for a getaway
BRITS desperate for some summer sun will splash £31 billion on staying in the UK this year - with Cornwall, the Lake District and Oxford top of our getaway lists.
Cornwall is the favourite for holidaymakers seeking sun and sand this season closely followed by Brighton and Blackpool.
South Wales and the Scottish Highlands were also favourites for families looking for a rural retreat after being cooped up during the Covid restrictions.
Almost half of us have not had a holiday since the start of the pandemic, according to research from Travelodge.
The average staycation costs £769.70 with holidaymakers looking forward to activities such as eating fish and chips at the seaside, going for a walk at sunset, and taking a hike in the countryside.
A fifth of people also plan to combine their summer holiday with visiting their friends and family this year.
Almost half of us are also looking for a multi-centre trip in order to see more of the country.
