Cops find weapons including Taser, axes, BB guns and a MEAT CLEAVER brought by young pupils to school

Children bringing in deadly weapons are often being let off without even a warning

DANGEROUS weapons including a Taser, a BB gun, axes, meat cleavers, baseball bats and knives have been seized in British schools by police.

Freedom of Information requests revealed more than 1,300 repossessions from under-18s in school between 2011 to 2015.

True figures are higher as only 26 out of 46 forces responded to requests.

A 16-year-old in Kent was caught with a Taser stun gun and a 12-year-old in Northamptonshire had an imitation firearm.

In London, more than 591 offensive weapons were recorded in the two years up to 2015 across schools and nurseries.

In the last five years South Yorkshire cops repossessed 68 weapons including a dart, a can of CS gas and 16 kitchen knives.

Just two years ago, a “black handle silver blade, eight inches long” and a “metal fold baseball bat” were found in Surrey schools.

Many children were charged, cautioned or warned but some faced no action.

A Department for Education spokesman said: “Weapons have no place in schools and, however rare, any incident is unacceptable.

“We have put teachers back in charge of discipline and made clear that they can take action if they suspect a pupil has brought prohibited items into school.”
