Who is Britney Spears’ lawyer Samuel D. Ingham III?

BRITNEY Spears' battle to take back control of her finances and career continues - after the star addressed court on June 23.

Her lawyer, Samuel D. Ingham III, who represented the Toxic singer as she fights to break free from the 13-year conservatorship is resigning, according to reports.

Who is Samuel D. Ingham III?

Samuel D. Ingham III is a lawyer based in Ojai, California.

He studied at the University of California School of Law and is now a State Bar Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust a Probate Law.

In addition, Ingham has been trained and qualified as a mediator by the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

A bio on the laywer's LinkedIn page reads: "My practice is devoted to court proceedings involving conservatorships and trusts.

"These areas both involve the application of complex laws to challenging family situations.

"Over the years, I have developed a "problem solving" approach to these cases to avoid or minimise litigation and arrive at a cost-effective resolution."

What has he said on Britney Spears' conservatorship case?

The singer's father, Jamie Spears, had been in control of both the singer's financial and personal affairs before stepping down from the latter role in September 2019 due to health reasons.

Jodi Montgomery - a care professional - then replaced him on what has been a temporary basis.

At the hearing into Britney's case in April 2021, her lawyer Samuel D Ingham III told a judge in Los Angeles he would file a petition to make the appointment permanent.

The key legal papers have now been filed and obtained by the PA news agency.

Popstar Britney Spears had also requested that she address the court herself at her next hearing.

He proposed that the hearing be scheduled on an “expedited basis,” preferably within 30 days.

Spears’ lawyer did not say at the time what the 39-year-old singer wanted to tell  Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny.

However, the judge scheduled a June 23 hearing on the status of the conservatorship.

At the hearing, Spears asked the court to end her conservatorship. She called the conservatorship "abusive."

"I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized,” she said.

"I just want my life back," she continued.

"I don't feel I can live a full live.  I don't even believe in therapy.  I always thought I could take it to God," she said.

She said she was put on lithium medication and claimed she "felt drunk" and couldn't hold a conversation with her parents.

Did Sam Ingham resigning from Britney's conservatorship?

TMZ reported on Tuesday, July 6 that .

He had been the singer’s representative for 13 years and his resignation comes after she slammed the whole conservatorship in her lengthy speech in court last month.

According to , Ingham is “extremely upset” with how Britney spoke about everything, including his handling of her case, during her court appearance last month.

She claimed she wasn't told about all of her options regarding the guardianship, including how to request that it should end.

Who else has he represented?

It is not clear which other high profile names Ingham has represented.

However, his LinkedIn page states how the lawyer "regularly represents banks and licensed professional fiduciaries as well as individuals."

Ingham added: "Also I serve on the Appointed Counsel Panel for the Los Angeles Superior Court.

"The Court has appointed me to act as attorney, guardian ad litem, referee and master in cases as large as $500 million."
