Joe Biden has third LOWEST approval rating of any president after their first 100 days in almost 70 years
HE may have only been in the White House a matter of weeks but things aren't looking too rosy for Joe Biden in terms of popularity as he hits the 100-day benchmark.
That's because he has been handed the third lowest approval rating of any president after their first 100 days in almost seven decades, a poll has revealed.
Just 52 per cent of Americans said they approve of 's work so far in office - fewer than any president at 100 days in office since 1945 save two, according to a survey carried out by and the Washington Post.
The only two since Harry Truman's days in the White House to be rated worse than Biden were Gerald Ford in 1974, at 48 per cent, and , at just 42 per cent in 2017.
The 100-day average in the 14 presidents from Truman to Biden is a 66 per cent approval rate - meaning the current president is lagging behind at just 52 per cent.
A break down of what Biden has so far done in office reveals a mix bag of results.
According to figures produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates, the president has received greatest approval for his Covid relief package, at 65 per cent, and for his handling of the pandemic, with 64 per cent believing he's done a good job.
His proposal to raise corporate taxes has also been given the thumbs up by 58 per cent of Americans.
But figures begin to slip when it comes to his $2trillion infrastructure package, with little more than half approving of it at 52 per cent, with the same number supporting his handling of the economy.
Those numbers drop further when looking at Biden's work on the immigration situation at the US-Mexico border, with just 37 per cent approving his actions.
Biden's overall approval ratings may pale compared to historical averages - but when pitted against most recent predecessor, Trump, things look a little better.
Trump's figures fell short, with his approval rating at just 38 per cent when he exited the White House, and that same figure for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
Trump was also the first president on record not to achieve majority approval.
Meanwhile, just 13 per cent of approve of Biden's work in office - the exact same number of Democrats who supported Trump's first 100 days.
In contrast, Barack Obama garnered the approval of 36 per cent of Republicans by his 100 day mark in 2009, and George Bush had the support of 39 per cent of
The figures come after performance and progressive policies as he reaches his first 100 days in office.
"The Biden Administration and have definitely exceeded expectations that progressives had," the New York Congresswoman said during a on Friday.
"I'll be frank, a lot of us expected a much more conservative administration."
AOC showered her support for Joe Biden and made note of the massive $1.9trillion Covid-19 American Rescue Plan stimulus package he spearheaded.

"It’s been good so far," the congresswoman said in the dealings with the 46th president, adding that Biden has been "impressive" for his "willingness" to consider the progressive agenda.
