A MAN has been jailed for 12 years for raping a woman in her own home with a meat cleaver while her children slept upstairs.
Rickie Carter, 37, brandished the weapon and ordered the woman to strip, before laughing at her and calling her fat - then assaulting her.
Carter was yesterday jailed for 12 years after he was found guilty of rape at Worcester Crown Court.
Judge Abbas Mithani, QC, described it as a "degrading and humiliating ordeal".
He told Carter: "You wanted her to know that you were prepared to use it if she didn't do exactly what you asked of her. She was petrified."
The court heard Carter arrived uninvited to the woman's home at 8pm on October last year and after she made him a pizza he hurled it in her face.
He then ordered the woman to clean up the mess before hitting her on the leg with the blunt edge of a knife and striking her with a toy dinosaur.
Carter, of Redditch, Worcestershire, claimed the woman had sent him provocative text messages and invited him to her home in October last year.
However, the prosecution said she had been surprised to see him at her door when he arrived at 8pm.
Abigail Nixon, defending, said her client had made several suicide attempts since the verdict, adding: "He says it is the end of his life. He now has a conviction for rape and the stigma that goes with it."
