Bosnian Pokemon Go players warned by charity to avoid minefields and dangerous zones

Users are ignoring warning signs in bid to catch Pokemon

POKEMON Go players in Bosnia are being warned to stay away from minefields after fans have been seen wandering into the danger zones.

A Bosnian de-mining charity, Posavina bez mina, issued its warning after hearing reports of gamers venturing into risky areas.

There are still about 120,000 mines in the country – left over from the Bosnian War which ended in 1995.

At least 600 people have been killed in landmine accidents in the country since the end of the war.
Pokemon Go sees players use their smartphones to hunt for cartoon monsters in the real world.

“We received information that some users of the Pokemon Go app in Bosnia were going to places which are a risk for mines, in search of a pokemon,” Posavina bez mina said on Facebook.

“Citizens are urged not to do so, to respect demarcation signs of dangerous mine fields and not to go into unknown areas,” it added.

Earlier this week, two teenagers in the US state of Florida were shot at by a householder who mistook them for burglars.

Pokemon hunt kids steal boat at marina

POKEMON Go players stole a boat to track one of the virtual creatures across a lake.

Twenty youngsters were involved but fled when police were called.
They had rowed on New Brighton marine lake on Merseyside. They left the boat drifting when cops arrived.
Danny Jameson, of The Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team, said: “We know that many people are enjoying Pokemon Go and we wouldn’t want to spoil that fun.
“However, we would ask people to use a little common sense and not to take risks.”
The craze involves hunting app characters in real locations.
