Boy, 16, who sexually assaulted a FOAL is identified using DNA evidence
He admitted the lewd act and hung his head in shame at Leicester Crown Court
A TEENAGER who was caught while having sex with a FOAL in a nature reserve has escaped jail.
Leicester Crown Court heard the 16-year-old had hold of the female horse by the tail as he sexually assaulted her.
Two women were walking through the picturesque Aylestone Meadows reserve when the saw the teen.
They said he “looked shocked” when he realised he had been spotted and sped away on a bicycle.
The women said that by his actions, it was clear what he was doing to the foal.
Police took swabs from the foals genital area to obtain bodily fluid and DNA from the teen, but no match was found at the time – June 2014.
They managed to catch the youngster when he was arrested in March of this year and his DNA was matched to the grim crime he had committed years previously.
He cannot be named for legal reasons and hung his head in shame as he pleaded guilty to haing sexual intercourse with an animal when he was a juvenile.
Recorder Adrian Reynolds said: “I’m not going to go into the horrible details of what happened on that day, which was a long time ago.
“I’ve every confidence that, with help, you’ll continue your life in the right direction, having already made progress.”
Prosecutor Alan Murphy said: “In interview, he admitted the offence, but initially claimed he was forced to do it by a Polish man.
“He said his ‘head wasn’t in a good place’ at the time.”
The court heard the teen, from Braunstone, Leicester, had “severe limitations” and there had been no further offending.
Matthew Hardyman, defending, told the judge: “He has a stable family structure at home and the support of his family.”
He said the teenager was now less isolated and more socialised and was due to start studies this September.
The boy was sentenced to an 18 month community order on Friday.
