Dozy driver jailed over 100mph police chase after posting a map of his route on FACEBOOK
Connor Lloyd sped through red lights, drove on the wrong side of road and almost hit another car
A YOB driver has been jailed after foolishly posting the route of his 100mph chase with police on Facebook.
Dozy Connor Lloyd, 20, went on an 'extremely dangerous' city centre 'race' through Cambridge after police clocked him driving like a maniac just after midnight on January 17 this year.
When officers tried to pull him over he accelerated at speeds of up to 100mph in his Honda Civic hatchback.
As he sped away from cops he drove through a string of red lights, went the wrong way round roundabouts, drove on the wrong side of the road and almost hit another car head-on.
Police called off the chase for the sake of public safety after around five miles as security guard Lloyd approached the busy M11 motorway.
Cambridge crown court was told how police only caught Lloyd after he later posted a map of the route he used to escape on Facebook - with "speeding" scrawled on it.
The message was sent to a pal during a Facebook chat, with Lloyd boasting about where the chase started saying: "Well it all started here. I will draw a line of where I went."
The court heard how another Facebook message from Lloyd - since deleted from his Facebook page - bragged about how he had three passengers in the car and hit speeds of 100mph during the chase.
Sara Walker, prosecuting, told the court how cops decided to "give up the chase for the sake of public safety" as Lloyd accelerated to over 80mph on the wrong side of the road.
John Farmer, defending, told the court that Lloyd should be "given credit" for his early guilty plea, adding that there was "no collision and no injuries".
Judge Jonathan Haworth said: “This was an appalling piece of driving. It was highly dangerous. It was only by the grace of god no accidents occurred."
“This was extremely dangerous, I cannot overlook that.
“It was in the middle of Cambridge on roads with which we are all familiar."
Lloyd, of Cambridge, admitted dangerous driving and was caged for six months and banned from the roads for a year.
