Who is Ron DeSantis’ wife Casey?
Born on June 26, 1980, Casey DeSantis was born Jill Casey Black in Troy, Ohio.
The College of Charleston graduate began her broadcasting career by hosting gigs on the Golf channel shows On The Tee and PGA Tour Today.
Casey achieved more local recognition as an anchor on the independent Florida station WJXT.
The journalist also held positions with NBC’s Jacksonville affiliate WTLV and ABC affiliate WJXX.
When did Ron and Casey get married?
In September 2010, Casey married Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Sometime earlier, the then-TV anchor met then-Navy Officer Ron while she was covering a golf game at the University of Florida.
Regarding their first encounter and how it turned into marriage, Casey told : “We met at the University of North Florida at the driving range off Kernan.
“I kept looking over my shoulder because I wanted the bucket of balls that somebody had left because my swing was so terrible.
“I needed as much practice as I could possibly get. As I’m looking over behind me, Ron is over there. He thinks I’m looking at him.”
The broadcaster recalled: “I was really looking at the balls. Long story short we started to talk and that’s how we met.”
She added: “He’s always been a guy that’s been pushing me in the right direction to succeed and I think that’s very special.
“He does a good job. I’m very appreciative of the job he does when he gets the chance to be home.”
Do Ron and Casey have children?
Ron and Casey have three children together, two girls named Madison, born in 2016, and Mamie and a son named Mason, born in 2018.
Their youngest child Mamie was born in March 2020.
Florida’s First Lady posted the baby news on Twitter, now known as X, and announced: “Ron and I are beyond blessed to welcome our new baby girl, Mamie to the world.
“At 7 lbs 4 oz she was the smallest of the bunch, but she is already holding her own. Madison and Mason are so excited for their new baby sister!”
What happened to Casey DeSantis?
On October 4, 2021, it was revealed that Casey was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Ron released a statement and said: “I am saddened to report that Florida’s esteemed First Lady and my beloved wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
“As the mother of three young children, Casey is the centerpiece of our family and has made an impact on the lives of countless Floridians through her initiatives as First Lady.
“As she faces the most difficult test of her life, she will have not only have my unwavering support but the support of our entire family, as well as the prayers and well wishes from Floridians across our state. Casey is a true fighter, and she will never, never, never give up.”
On March 3, 2022, the Governor shared an update with his social media followers and said: “I have a positive update about my wife Casey DeSantis.
“After going through both treatment and surgery for breast cancer, she is now considered cancer-free.
“She still has more to do, but I’m confident she’s going to make a full recovery. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. God Bless you all.”
Since recovering from breast cancer, Casey has been fully supporting Ron’s political aspirations.
In May 2023, Ron announced he would be going up against Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, however, he later dropped out of the race in January 2024.
While he might not be the next president, he will remain the governor of Florida until January 2027.
