Two Yemeni men on FBI terror watchlist arrested trying to enter US at Mexico border amid migrant crisis

AUTHORITIES arrested two Yemeni men on the FBI's terror list for attempting to enter the United States through the Mexican border in California.

The two men, natives of Yemen, were arrested near the Calexico Port of Entry on January 29 and March 30.

Customs and Border Protection took the men, ages 33 and 26, into custody.

The 33-year-old was found with a mobile phone SIM card in the insole of his shoe.

A records check found that both men were on a government watchlist for terrorism.

They also were on a no-fly list.

Such a list includes people who are "known to be or reasonably suspected of being involved in terrorist activities," writes the FBI.

According to the CBP, the men within just three miles of the port of entry.

"Part of the Border Patrol’s mission states we will protect the country from terrorists," said Chief Patrol Agent Gregory K. Bovino.

"Today, like every other day, our agents did that," Bovino .

"These apprehensions at our border illustrate the importance of our mission and how we can never stop being vigilant in our everyday mission to protect this great country."
