Who is Chuck Schumer's wife Iris?

Chuck Schumer married Iris Weinshall in 1980.

Weinshall is the Chief Operating Officer of The New York Public Library, former vice-chancellor at the City University of New York, and a former commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation.

She oversees a $324million operating budget and $500million in capital projects across the New York Public Library system’s 92 locations.

Weinshall, a Brooklyn native, is a graduate of Brooklyn College and earned a Master of Public Administration degree from New York University's Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.

Schumer and Weinshall keep their marriage strong, despite their busy schedules, by talking on the phone in the morning and evening the four days a week that Schumer spends in Washington.

The senator calls her on the way to the gym in the morning, and the library executive calls him on the way home from work at night.

What did Doug Collins say on Twitter about Iris Weinshall?

On Saturday, January 8, 2022, former Rep. Doug Collins took to Twitter to falsely accuse Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Sonia Sotomayor, of getting dinner with a group of politicians.

"Justice Sotomayer was caught dining last night with:

-Nancy Pelosi
-Chuck Schumer
-Amy Klobuchar

"After the lies she spat out yesterday, how can she still rule impartial on this case?

"She needs to recuse herself NOW!" the former politician tweeted.

However, Sotomayor was not in attendance at the dinner, but instead the guest was Iris Weinshall.

"Your spreading lies, Doug. Justice Sotomayor did not dine w Pelosi, Klobuchar & Schumer. Político retracted the story, they misidentified Iris Weinshall," a user responded on Twitter.

Politico, who originally shared the story mistakenly identifying Sotomayor as the dinner guest, took to their social media account to update users on the error.

"CORRECTION: This morning's Playbook had a photo of a Friday dinner at Le Diplomate, and misidentified Iris Schumer, the majority leader’s wife, as Sonia Sotomayor," the Politico account tweeted.

"Our tipster got it wrong, but we should have double checked. We deeply regret the error."

Regardless of the retraction, Collins has yet to delete the tweet aimed at Sotomayor, whose name he misspelled.

Does Chuck Schumer have children?

Schumer and Weinshall have two daughters together: Jessica and Alison Schumer.

According to LinkedIn, Jessica is the Executive Director for Friends of the Brooklyn Queens Connector.

Having studied at Yale Law, Jessica was formerly the Chief of Staff and General Counsel for the Council of Economic Advisers at the White House.

Last year, Alison, a Harvard graduate, married longtime love Elizabeth Weiland at 501 Union in Brooklyn.

After Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away, her father expressed concerns over their capability to get married under Donald Trump's administration.

“The kind words and lamentations are totally meaningless if he moves to tear down everything Justice Ginsburg built,” Schumer said of Republican Senate Majority Mitch McConnell at the time.
