A HAUNTING picture shows hundreds of people celebrating on a packed Nice promenade minutes before the Bastille Day massacre.
The chilling image shows families, including small children, enjoying the party atmosphere before a brainwashed killer drove a truck through the crowd.
Witnesses say the 25-tonne vehicle mowed people down “like a bowling ball” killing at least 84 people and injuring dozens more.
The French Tunisian man, 31, drove the terror-lorry for a mile along the Promenade des Anglais before exiting the huge rig and opening fire on more terrified people.
At least 54 children are being treated in hospital following the terrorist attack.
British tourist Kevin Harris told Good Morning Britain that he left the promenade just minutes before the attack.
He said "After a minute of being back in my room, I heard some gunshots went out on my terrace and saw this dreadful scene.
"Lots of bodies lying in the middle of the promenade - everybody was dead."
Holidaymaker Esther Serwah, 59 from Surrey, was enjoying a meal with her daughters when horrific attack started.
She said: "I was just walking to the Promenade and then I saw everybody running and I just didn't know what was going on.
"People were screaming at me in French but I didn't understand.
"Some people were lying on the streets dead and people were running over the bodies. I'm in shock. I'm still shaking."
