The Mexican man, who has been linked to the horrific events in Nice, is the subject of a 'revenge' campaign
SICK online trolls are targeting a 'former friend' who owes them money– by claiming he has died in several terrorist attacks such as the lorry crash in Nice.
The victim known only as ‘Alfonso’, from Mexico, has been falsely linked to several atrocities such as the EgyptAir crash, the recent bombing at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport and the horrific massacre in Orlando.
Following the terrifying lorry attack in southern France, which has left at least 84 people dead, Twitter posts have once again appeared with Alfonso’s picture claiming that he was killed in the terror incident.
spoke to the prank victim, who does not want to reveal his full identity, about the relentless online campaign against him.
He said: “My photo is everywhere because of someone who started it as a prank after a legal dispute.
“I never reported the people who did this to me because, in Mexico, nothing ever happens in these kinds of cases.

“Now, my photo has appeared in several stories that were widely shared on Twitter.
“I contacted several media outlets like the BBC and the New York Times and asked them to delete my photo but they never responded.”
The French news outlet also tracked down one of the online antagonists who confirmed that they wanted to ruin their former friend’s reputation.
He said: "This man used to be my friend but he’s cheated money out of me and at least four people who I know.
"I lodged both civil and criminal complaints against him, but because the legal proceedings are dragging on and he still hasn’t given us back our money, we decided to punish him by posting his photo online.
"Our goal is to ruin his reputation. We want the whole world to recognise his face."
Following the terror attack in France last night, Twitter has been flooded with disgusting posts claiming Alfonso is one of the tragic victims.
One read: “My brother Alfonso was in #Nice #France near of the accident, is Mexican. Please help, my mama is crying”
Another said: “I'm looking for my brother. He was in #Niza please help me. His name is Alfonso. #Help #France #Nice.”
The shocking incident in Nice has sparked some peculiar reactions including from witnesses in the popular coastal city.
A British holidaymaker, named Lucy, told Sky News that the mass killing had ruined her shopping trip.
She said: “Maybe this is awful and maybe a bit selfish but it did spoil our shopping trip.
“We bought all this lovely shopping and now I can’t be bothered with it. It doesn’t mean anything now.”
The presenter responded, saying: “Well certainly pictures that you won’t have seen are absolutely horrific.”
