Hannity attended Adelphi University and New York University but left before graduating to pursue a career in broadcasting.

In 1989, Hannity landed his first talk show on a college radio station called KCSB FM, however, he was let go within a year of his employment due to his controversial comments.

Hannity used this to his advantage and landed a job with WVNN in Alabama as a talk show host touching on conservative topics.

He got his break in 1996 when he was hired by Roger Ailes, the co-founder of Fox News to co-host a show with Alan Colmes. Shortly after, the talk show Hannity & Colmes aired.

In 2017, Hannity's co-host Colmes passed away after a battle with lymphoma. He was 66.

His radio talk show The Sean Hannity Show’ was syndicated nationwide in September 2001 to over 500 stations.
