Shameless TV star Jody Latham handed restraining order after repeatedly harassing his ex-fiancee

Star, 33, pestered actress Sarah Byrne with threatening voicemails

SHAMELESS actor Jody Latham has been banned from contacting his ex-fiancee after he left her in fear with foul mouthed voicemail rants demanding to see their daughter.

The 33-year old - famed for his role as Lip Gallagher - twice phoned actress Sarah Byrne, 27, and left messages saying: ''I am very very upset. I am going to hit the roof. I will blow up, I'll make a problem for you.''

The voicemails were left after the couple - who met on the set of the set of the Manchester Channel 4 drama - split following the birth of their child.

In one of the messages which were played to JPs,  Latham - who also appeared in Eastenders and Holby City  - is heard telling Sarah: ''I'll tell everyone what everyone gets up to at the weekends.

"Who they're f******, what they're sniffing what they're drinking. I need to know I have access to my daughter or I will hit the roof. "

Sarah called in police and told officers: "I could not take the stress any longer. I was just too much in fear of what he would do next.";

She added that Latham was a ''good father'' and she did not want to stop him from seeing their daughter - but ''only through a third party.''

Latham, who lives in Manchester city centre, admitted harassment and was fined £325 with £33 victim surcharge and £150 costs when he appeared at Tameside Magistrates Court.

He was given a 12 month restraining order which bans him from contacting Sarah and visiting her place of work or home for anything other than access to his daughter.

He is also not allowed to post anything on any social media site naming or identifying the child.

The couple met during a Shameless wrap party in 2008 but they began a romance after he split up with former X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos in 2012.

In 2013 Latham posed for lovey dovey pictures with Sarah when she was pregnant with the child for an interview in a glossy magazine.

In it he talked about his romance with Tulisa and also his 2012 conviction for growing a cannabis farm at the home of another ex-girlfriend.

The actor - who has a 14-year old son from a previous relationship - said: ''We all make mistakes no one is perfect."

He added: ''Within days of meeting of meeting Sarah I knew she was the one" and they later got engaged.

The pair ran an acting school together at the Manchester Central Library but split up in October last year following an incident the previous month when Latham suffered facial injuries during a scrap with a theatre-goer at the Lowry Theatre in Salford.

Angela Griffiths, prosecuting, said: "The split had been in October 2015 and following that the defendant started displaying erratic and concerning behaviour."

Gerard Doran, defending, said: “This case is unfortunate and very sad end to the relationship. It was a number of requests that become a lot more forceful."

''He does not seek to excuse his behaviour and he will endeavour in the future to behave appropriately.

"This was one day, two telephone calls at a time where the relationship between them was at a very high temperature," he added.

The lawyer said the actor had been "refused work as a result of this conviction".

Latham’s career took off at the age of 12 when he appeared in youth theatre.

He played the son of scrounger Frank Gallagher in Shameless from 2004 to 2008 whilst Sarah played wildchild Meena Karib from 2008 to 2009.
