Police had previously issued a plea to the public with the dad having been last seen getting off a bus on the A9 near Auchterarder about 2.30pm on Monday.
Scotland Police said: "Officers are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen a man wearing a grey waterproof Regatta jacket, red shorts and black work boots in the area of the A9 near Forteviot, Perthshire, or the surrounding areas between 2.15pm yesterday afternoon and 9.15 this morning to contact Police Scotland on 101."

The festival's licence is now issued only on a year-to year-basis.
Ms Smith said: "I think many people - including myself - gave promoters DF Concerts the benefit of the doubt that they could sort the problems for 2016."
