Andy Murray snubs Serena Williams in traditional Wimbledon champions dance

ANDY Murray refused a dance with his fellow Wimbledon winner Serena Williams as they celebrated at the Champions Dinner - joking that he hadn't had enough to drink.

The Brit, who beat Milos Raonic 6-4 7-6 7-6 to claim his second title in three years, snubbed an age-old tradition for the winners to dance together at the end of tournament party.

Instead, the 29-year-old partied with his wife Kim Drama nightclub in Mayfair, where he danced until the early hours of the morning.

He said: “The next winners can try it again but no dance for me tonight unless I’ve had a few glasses of champagne. And then it’s possible.

“It’s a nice thing to do but it never really happened this year, and I was just lucky to leave the stage in one piece."

Last year Williams took to the stage to dance with Novak Djokovic to the tune of Night Fever by the Bee Gees.

She arrived at London’s Guildhall for the post-tournament celebration after popping into the Cafe Royal for another party hosted by British Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton.

It's not known how Williams, who secured a place in history by equalling Steffi Graf’s record of 22 grand slam titles, reacted to being rejected by Murray.

He was spotted putting “thousands of pounds" behind the bar -with fellow tennis star Heather Watson alleged to have spent a whopping £25,000 on an after party for the pair.

DJ Khaled’s All I Do is Win was the final song of the night, putting an end to a night of celebrations.
Murray arrived 20 minutes late for a 10am press conference the day after his historic win.

He said the previous night was “brutal”.

“I had a rough, rough night last night — celebrations with the team, it was fun. It was a great night,” he said.

The World Number Two has now set his sights on nicking the top spot off of rival Novak Djokovic.

Fans have also called for Murray to be given a knighthood after becoming the first British player to win Wimbledon twice.

Even Murray’s coach Ivan Lendl - renowned for his emotionless reactions - was reportedly close to tears after the victory.

Although he did pass off the rare blub off as an “allergy”, Lendl admitted to being emotional at Murray's success.

He said: “We are all busting our chops for Andy to do well and win. When it is achieved, it is a very good feeling."

Murray added: “I knew I must have achieved something special on Sunday because I got a hug from Ivan Lendl.

“It’s usually just a handshake, but for Wimbledon he makes an exception.”
