Beautiful Serbian pop star left covered in blood and feared she would be killed in savage attack by vile bigots
Dunja Ilic, 24, said she had been beaten up for being Serbian and does not feel welcome in her adopted homeland
A BLONDE Serbian popstar who converted to Islam has been beaten up in her new home of Kosovo.
But Dunja Ilic, 24, did not receive any sympathy after revealing the attack that left her bloodied and bruised.
Recounting the attack on social media, she said: "The Albanian started punching me after asking my opinion on the subject. He was hitting me with fists, I thought he would kill me. I was so scared because I suddenly realised there was no one there to stand up for me.
"I realised that in the city where I was living for more than a year I actually don’t have any real friends, I have not even been able to find a job since I've been here."
She said that after the attack she realised that moving to the area might have been a mistake.
In photos shared on social media, Ilic showed her bloodied face with cuts all over her body.
Kosovo is a disputed territory that declared itself independent from Serbia, and the young woman claimed she had been attacked by a Kosovo Albanian man because she was a Serb.
She said he was apparently unhappy about the fact that she, as a Serbian woman, had indicated that Kosovo was still Serbian territory.

"I hope people remember that I have never said anything bad about Serbia, I am Serbian and I will always be Serbian. That was the reason I was given a beating."
But she has now found that after attempting to return back to her home in the Serbian capital of Belgrade that she has little support there either.
But the welcome she has been given back in her homeland has been less than enthusiastic. Online user ‘Svetlana’ wrote: " And now we will have to welcome you with open arms, right?!"
While another 'Miro' commented: "You are a lost cause! You don’t know where you belong!"
And another 'Jasna' suggested: "Please go to Turkey!"
The popstar already faced criticism when it was revealed she had become a Muslim two years ago after falling in love with an Albanian man, and she had then moved to live in Kosovo which has a Muslim majority.
At the time she claimed it was nothing to do with her then boyfriend, saying instead that Islam had been a way to help her deal with alcoholism.
She infuriated her fellow Serbs when she was accused of supporting Albania during the European Championship 2016.
She said that she only congratulated Albanian friends for the victory and she did not see how that could possibly offend Serbians.
She retired from music in 2013 after a three-year career to focus on curing herself from an alcohol addiction, and later revealed she had converted to Islam in order to help her become a teetotaller.
