Shocking images leaked online claim to show Dallas sniper Micah Johnson lying dead after being killed by a ‘bomb robot’

Shooter had been involved in hours of negotiations with police, telling them he wanted to 'kill white cops'

IMAGES purportedly of dead Dallas sniper Micah Johnson have surfaced after the shooter was killed by a police 'bomb robot'.

The unverified images appear to show the dead body of Micah X Johnson, surrounded by rubble, reportedly just after he was killed by the bomb.

The Dallas Police Department have not confirmed if the gruesome photos are in fact of Johnson.

But Bryan Woolston, a former senior explosive ordnance disposal technician with the US Army, said the distressing images were consistent with the controlled bomb tactic used by police.

He said the state of the corpse and the scene around him were consistent with the tactic, which involved police using a Remotec robot with a claw and arm extension to detonate one pound  of C4 plastic explosive close to Johnson, who was thought to have been crouched behind a wall, the Mail Online reported.

The body pictured does not appear to have any serious outer physical injuries but Woolston said the internal injuries would have been catastrophic.

The photos show the man on the ground, surrounded by rubble.

A second photo shows a semi-automatic rifle nearby, also surrounded by the damaged walls and floor.

Speaking to MailOnline, Bryan Woolston said: ‘The most significant injuries would have resulted from the blast over pressure generated by the detonation.

"This would have created a blast wave of pressure far higher than normal atmospheric pressure, causing catastrophic injuries to the cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal organs and other soft tissue. These injuries alone could cause death."

The Dallas Police told the Mail ONline that it would not confirm whether the photos were real or not.

Before negotiations broke down with Johnson, he told police that he wanted to kill white people, especially white police.

It is understood he chose an elevated position above the Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas to pick off police.

Five police officers were shot dead in the horrific attack with another seven injured. Two civilians were also injured in the attack, which saw protesters sent running as the first shots were fired.

City police chief David Cameron told reporters after the situation had unfolded that: "We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate where the suspect was."

Johnson is said to have been upset about the two separate police shootings of black men in the US.

Both incidents were captured on film, with the immediate aftermath of one day, livestreamed on Facebook

Philando Castile's girlfriend broadcast the scene after the couple were pulled over by police, telling the camera that Castile had been reaching for his ID when police shot him in Minnesota.

The death of Alton Sterling was likewise caught on film, with the Baton Rouge man fatally shot by police.

US president Barack Obama called last week's attack "vicious" and "calculated".
