MEGYN Kelly has criticised Meghan Markle for saying she does not believe in "grandeur" despite inviting the Clooneys to her wedding and wearing diamonds she received from a Saudi Prince.

The former Fox News anchor said the Duchess of Sussex was "totally un-self-aware" during the tell-all interview with Oprah - which aired in the US overnight and will be on ITV tonight.

Referring to an in the New York Post claiming that the interview was full of contradictions, Ms Kelly said on Good Morning Britain today: "She (Meghan) goes onto say, I don't believe in any of the grandeur.

"There's an article already up on the New York Post here in the States that's saying this is the person who had Clooney and Oprah at her wedding even though she didn't even know them, and then covered herself in blood diamonds from a Saudi Prince, so like, spare us that you're not into any of the grandeur."

She added: "What I saw tonight was somebody who is totally un-self-aware, completely unaware of how she sounded."

The broadcaster's comments came after reports that Meghan wore a pair of diamond earrings that she received as a wedding gift from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia.

She wore them at a dinner during a visit to Fiji in October 2018 - three weeks after the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

At the time, her staff said the jewellery was "borrowed", but did not specify from whom.

The Duchess wore the earrings while the Crown Prince was facing worldwide condemnation for orchestrating Khashoggi's murder.

Her lawyers, however, have insisted that at the time, Meghan was unaware of the widespread speculation that the Saudi royal family was likely behind the killing of the Washington Post journalist.

Campaigners fighting for justice for the murdered journalist have said the chandelier earrings were "bought with blood money" by the Saudi Prince.

Michael Eisner said he was "baffled" that the Duchess did not know the Saudi royal was linked to Khashoggi's high-profile murder when she wore the earrings.

The following month, Meghan wore the earrings again at Prince Charles' 70th birthday party at Buckingham Palace.

It is believed that the earrings have now been placed in safe storage, but a spokesman for Meghan last week refused to comment on their whereabouts.

Harry and Meghan's bombshell Oprah interview has plunged the monarchy into crisis after a series of shocking claims.

The Sussexes accused an unnamed royal of racism and suggested the family were jealous of Meghan.

Meghan revealed that she contemplated taking her own life while pregnant.

The Duchess of Sussex said she begged for help from the Firm after struggling with her mental health - saying it was her husband who "saved" her.

She said: “I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry, especially, because I know how much loss he's suffered.

“But I knew that if I didn't say it, that I would do it.

“And I…I just didn't…I just didn't want to be alive anymore. And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought.”

She also claimed her son Archie wasn't made a prince after "concerns and conversations" about "how dark" his skin would be when he was born.

Meghan said: “In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time, so we have in tandem the conversation of ‘He won't be given security’.

“He's not going to be given a title’ and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born.”

During the Oprah interview, Harry and Meghan also revealed they are expecting a baby girl.

Meghan told the chat show host, 67, that although they waited to find out Archie’s gender, this time they chose to find out whether they are having a boy or a girl.

The explosive interview aired on CBS in the US, and will be shown in the UK on ITV tonight at 9pm.
