TONY Hendra, star of This is Spinal Tap, has died at age 79.

The actor and satirist had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) back in 2019.

Hendra denied the claims, but did keep a lower profile after they were made public.

He is survived by his second wife, Carla; two children from his first marriage, Jessica and Katherine; three children from his second marriage, Lucy, Sebastain and Nicholas; his brother Martin; two sisters Angela Hendra and Celia Radice; and four grandchildren.
