A DISGUSTED Morrisons customer has told of the moment live maggots crawled out of his broccoli as he boiled it up for dinner.

Luke Allison-Gordon, 27, was just putting the finishing touches to an evening meal and was boiling the veg when the creepy-crawlies emerged.

Luke, known to mates as LAG, told the Sun Online: “I accept the occasional bug in vegetables but an infestation of maggots can’t be normal.

“I was boiling them for Sunday dinner and that’s when I’ve seen them wriggling around.

“They were zombie maggots.

“They kept wriggling even in boiling water.”

He had bought the broccoli at a Morrisons in Gamston, Nottinghamshire, completely unaware of what was lurking inside.

Luke, who owns his own customer service firm Allison Gordon LTD, described the grim scene as “a maggot royal rumble”.

He added: “We bagged them up but as it was Sunday was unable to take them back so got in touch with their customer services team who have been really helpful.”

Luke took a video of the critters wriggling in the pan and posted it to social media.

Amazingly, a pal messaged saying he had also found maggots in his broccoli.

Luke added: “I think the whole batch must be affected.”

Morrisons has since got in touch with Luke and said: “I will be passing this on to the suppliers so more stringent quality checks can be made.”

It has also vowed to send him some food vouchers as compensation.

Luke added: “Morrisons has been really great about it to be fair.

“But I won’t be using the vouchers to buy broccoli!”

A Morrisons spokesman told the Sun Online: "Incidents like this are extremely rare.

"We have apologised to the customer and are investigating the issue with our supplier."
