Shamed teacher Kandice Barber branded ‘beyond despicable’ by judge as victim says he failed GCSEs after stress of ordeal
DISGRACED teacher Kandice Barber has been branded "beyond despicable" while her 15-year-old victim says he failed his GCSEs because of the ordeal.
The 35-year-old was sentenced to six years and two months in jail today after being convicted of having sex with the pupil in a field and sending him sordid topless pictures on Snapchat.
The married mum-of-three will now spend six years and two months behind bars.
Jailing Barber at Aylesbury crown court today, Recorder Dhaliwal said: “It matters not that you are female and the victim male.
"You also sent images, including a topless image of yourself, and a live video in which you were masturbating.
"All of these acts are tantamount to you grooming him and pulling him in, and with significant planning on your part."
The judge continued: "There is no doubt in my mind that you acted in gross breach of trust.
"You took advantage of a child in your care and groomed him for your own sexual gratification.
"You already had authority over him by the nature of your position, and to use threats to bring him down so he would comply with your demands to remain quiet, which is what I find that you did, is in my view beyond despicable."
'DESPICABLE'
The court heard Barber added the teenager on Snapchat at a school football awards ceremony in September 2018 and started messaging him - and "within a week" the texts became sexual.
In a victim impact statement read to the court, the pupil said that he didn't do as well in his exams as a result of the ordeal.
It read: "He was at school and it was through his presence at school that he came into contact with this defendant who was working there in a position of trust.
"He described how he has been caused stress and anxiety having to go through two trials and expressed concern that his family and friends who also were witnesses had suffered.
"He says that his GCSE’s were not as good as they should have been in part as a result of this incident.
“As a result of his poorer than expected results he had to leave the good school he was attending and go to a sixth form college leaving his friends behind.
"His family have since moved to another country hoping for a fresh start, but he had to inform his new school of the retrial.
“The defendant was supposed to help him make good decisions but she helped him make all the wrong decisions."
As well as the sentence, she is barred from working with children and vulnerable adults and is now subject to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order.
Barber, 35, was convicted of one count of causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity after a retrial at Amersham Law Courts in January.
The guilty verdict, which took jurors ten hours and 39 minutes to reach in, related to having sex with the boy in a field.
Barber was cleared of two other counts of causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Jurors heard how the teacher began messaging the pupil in 2018 after taking his phone number at a school sports day prize-giving event.
Their texts soon turned "sexual" and Barber later picked him up in her 4x4 car before driving to a field.
Barber then had sex with the boy in the secluded area.
The teacher continued to send the boy sordid texts - even while teaching him in class.
One message read: "You cannot make me blush when I am teaching now, poker face."
A schoolboy also claimed he saw messages from Barber, asking: "Do you prefer boobs or bum?”
The boy also showed a pal a shower selfie showing Barber's face and a picture of the supply teacher bending over a bed.
She also encouraged him to delete messages she had sent although the pupil kept photographs of some of the more explicit texts.
Barber then "threatened" to bring the lad down if he reported her and falsely accused him of rape.
At the same time, Barber searched "what is the name of someone you are having an affair with?" and the word "alibi" on Google.
The mum-of-three also typed in "a lie of where you have been" before later looking up "good secluded areas," and "Holiday Inn, Wycombe."
During the trial, the court heard Barber kept a secret stash of sexy snaps on her phone in a file called "for my eyes only".
Barber was eventually arrested in March last year - four months after the headmaster saw an X-rated picture of her sweeping through the school.
SEX MISS CAGED
Her husband Daniel defended his wife in court - telling jurors their marriage is as "strong" as ever.
The delivery driver, who previously referred to his wife as his "rock", said he was unaffected by his wife's conviction for sending X-rated pictures.
Barber's ex described her as a "wonderful girl" and "great mother" who usually follows the line of the law.
But he added he had to call time on their relationship due to her insatiable sex demands, saying: "When it came to sex, she was just incredibly frisky and that's what got her into all this trouble."
And he revealed their relationship was dominated by her "huge sex drive" with romps up to six times a day - including in unusual places.
The ex, who hasn't been named, said: "She liked doing it outside, sometimes in the car, the garden or in woods.

"We'd be driving somewhere, and she'd say, 'pull over, I'm feeling horny.' It just got too much for me.
"Everyone has got their personal needs and that sort of stuff got her excited but by the end of it I couldn't be bothered, I'd just had enough. It was too excessive."
