A TEENAGER found out her dad was dead after seeing a video of him being killed on the news.
Vladyslav Kornienko, 52, was beaten to death at a pedestrian crossing after criticising a dangerous driver.
His heartbroken daughter revealed she learned of her father’s passing after stumbling across footage of the attack.
The incident occurred in the centre of Ukraine’s capital on Friday and was captured on a road CCTV camera.
The video shows Mr Kornienko, dressed in a black winter jacket and hat, approaching a white Hyundai car before bending over and talking to the driver.
The next moment the driver, wearing sunglasses, gets out of the car and attacks Mr Kornienko.
He can be seen repeatedly hitting Mr Kornienko hard on the head with his fist, causing him to collapse.
The victim is then seen lying motionless on the ground while his attacker gets into his car and flees.
Mr Kornienko’s friend, who witnessed the violent episode, then hurries to his aid.
Paramedics rushed to the roadside within ten minutes but Mr Kornienko was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family learned about his death from a news report which showed the footage.
Mr Kornienko's crying teenage daughter Polina told local media: “I learned about my dad’s death from the news. Just stumbled upon the video.
“I lost my father. My grandma lost her son. He was taken away from us just for crossing a road.”
The alleged attacker, identified by police as Azizly Abdulla-ogly, was arrested and taken into custody soon after his victim’s death.
The suspect, who is a citizen of Azerbaijan, moved to Kyiv a year ago, married a local woman and started working as a cab driver.
Police say the attack unfolded after Mr Kornienko made a remark about Abdulla-ogly’s unsafe driving.
He confessed to punching his victim in the face, saying he "fell into a rage while being scolded" by Mr Kornienko.
Abdulla-ogly said: “I did not want to kill him. I just wanted to scare him.”
