A MAN wearing a bullet-proof vest has been arrested by police after the fatal police shootings in Dallas with the dramatic moments captured on film.
The man edges towards police with his hands above his head with the man then pushed to the ground and arrested in the footage.
Half a dozen police officers stand by the yellow police tape as the man walks towards them with a number of officers holding him down for the arrest.
Police have swept the area twice after reports that bombs could be in the area but have not found anything.
It is unclear whether the man who surrendered to police was one of the snipers involved in the attack.
Four people are understood to have been involved in the attack with three people in custody. One suspect is dead.
Protesters were left scrambling for cover when the shots first rang out with at least two shooters shooting from high ground.
They had been marching through the streets of Dallas to protest the two separate shootings of black men in the US.
The direct aftermath of the shooting of Philando Castile was streamed live on Facebook by his girlfriend with the woman saying her boyfriend had been pulled over for a broken tail-light in Minnesota.
But she said the man was shot by police after reaching for his ID.
Another man, Alton Sterling, was shot by police with the footage going viral.
During the protest against the deaths of the two men, five police officers were shot dead in Dallas.
It is understood four shooters were involved in the ambush attack on police.
The names of the police officers killed in the attack have begun to be released with 33-year-old Brent Thompson the first to be named.
The second officer fatally shot has been named on social media as Patrick Zamarripa.
Police were left scrambling when shots rang out over the Dallas protest, with hundreds of people at the rally screaming and running for their lives.
It is now understood that there were four shooters involved in the attack, with several using vantage points high above the rally to pick off officers and create chaos on the streets.
Members of the public and police officers alike were forced to take cover behind cars and buildings during the attack.
Authorities have since said the attack appeared coordinated and was "ambush" style.
Barack Obama has come out condemning the attack, saying they were "vicious" and "calculated".
