THIS is the horrifying moment a 12-year-old bridesmaid leaps from a moving motor after a carjacker raced away with her and her eleven-month-old brother still inside.

The dramatic footage – captured on a nearby CCTV camera – shows the thief speed off after jumping into the vehicle as the kids’ mum popped into a shop to get some crisps.

The family were on their way to a wedding when the shocking incident happened in Enfield, North London, last week.

As the thief drivers away, the courageous teen – still wearing high heels and a bridesmaid dress – throws herself out of the car onto the road.

She sustained bruising and grazes from the fall.

Her little brother was found dumped on a doorstep five miles away, still wearing a bow tie, white shirt and smart trousers, around an hour later.

The tot was taken in by the couple who discovered him on their doorstep and they changed his nappy and gave him a drink.

The car thief suspect is still at large.

The teenage girl’s grandad – who did not want to be named – said today: “We didn't realise how bad it was until we saw the footage.

“Watching it, it was terrifying.  She must have been in the hands of angels to have survived. She is still really traumatised and will need counselling.

“Obviously I am proud of her and relieved that she is OK, she could have been killed if she had fallen on her head or a car could have hit her as she rolled out.”

The 66-year-old retired landlord added: “I am obviously relieved the baby is OK.

“He is not my grandson but is still the brother of my granddaughter so I'm thankful neither of them came to any harm.

“Everyone is in a terrible state. We are obviously concerned that he could do it to another family as well. We are very thankful to the kind couple who took the baby in.

“I think we are all hardwired to look after a little baby, it's natural to find a baby and want to look after it and care for it."”

The suspect is described as a white male, in his late teens, with light hair in a spiky style and possibly wearing a hooded top.

Detective Inspector Chris Rixon from Enfield CID said: “It is of paramount importance that we find the person responsible immediately.

“I am appealing to anyone who has any information that could assist with the investigation to get in contact.

“The suspect is an opportunist who showed little regard for the welfare and the safety of the children.

“What happened is every parent's worst nightmare and I'm specifically appealing for the suspect to give himself up now before it is too late.

“All the victims involved have been put through an awful ordeal, none more so than the little 12-year-old girl.

“The fact that she threw herself out of moving vehicle just shows how frightened she was.

“She is a very fortunate little girl as the situation could have been so much worse, it could have resulted in her sustaining significant injuries or could have resulted in her dying had she been hit by an oncoming car.”
