Oprah said she was happy to offer the Duchess friendship and guidance.

The Times writes: "Winfrey played a long game. For some time neither spoke about doing an interview."

The Queen of TV spoke with Meghan over the phone and later found herself in London.

She was then said to be invited by Meghan to meet her at Kensington Palace in March - the only time the pair met before Meghan and Harry's wedding in May, according to The Times.

A few months later, Oprah was revealed as a “friend of the couple” and last-minute guest, sparking speculation that an interview could be on the cards.
