A GIGANTIC crocodile struck fear into relaxing sunbathers as it casually strolled past them on the beach.

The carefree reptile emerged from the trees as stunned holidaymakers were soaking up the glorious Caribbean sunshine.

The 10ft croc, making a beeline for the sea to cool off, walked past sunbeds on the idyllic Palancar Beach on the island of Mexican island of Cozumel.

Footage of the reptile's beach trip shows a man encouraging sunbathers to keep well back as it emerges from the trees.

Once the initial panic was over, people then pulled out their cameras to take snaps of the crocodile before it took a dip in the water.

Cozumel is one of the most popular cruise destinations in the Caribbean, is largely undeveloped, and hosts a wide variety of exotic wildlife.

The crocodile in the video was actually accompanied by another, but it was later captured while the other remained loose.

Scottish golfer Dougie Thompson, 60, needed 200 stitches to put his leg back together when he was attacked by a croc while playing golf on the nearby resort of Cancun in 2013.

He was only saved when fellow players attacked it with their golf clubs.

Last month tragic two-year-old Lane Graves was killed at Disney World in Floria, when an alligator dragged him into the water as he devastated father tried to save him.

Lane was standing in roughly a foot of water when the reptile gripped his leg in its jaws.
