KYLIE Minogue has denied she is engaged to her partner Paul Solomons — after his own step-mum said they were.
Rumours started to swirl that he had proposed after actress Billie Piper referred to Paul as the singer’s fiancé.
And yesterday Paul’s step-mother Gloria, who has been married to his dad for 34 years, said: “She’s very nice, I’m thrilled they’re engaged. It’s very exciting.
“But, I’m sorry, I cannot tell you any more because I’ve been told not to. I respect my son and I respect Kylie too much to say any more.”
Hours later, Kylie’s team insisted neither had popped the question.
A spokeswoman for Kylie, 52, said: “It’s not true. They are happy as they are.”
Last night Paul also joked about the situation by posting an Instagram Story of the Fleetwood Mac album Rumours, with the caption: “Today’s classic soundtrack.”
I Hate Suzie star Billie, 38, had started the engagement rumours earlier this week when recalling how Paul, who is creative director at GQ magazine, had taken her to hospital after she fainted aged 18.
She recalled: “It was 2000 when I passed out in a Covent Garden club — ‘foaming at the mouth’, apparently, but I have no reason to believe that.
“My PR rang through to my hospital bed to fill in some blanks. I’d been carried out of the club by a man, apparently.
“A hero or a pest, I wondered. It’s always hard to tell.
“Later, I’d find out his name is Paul, like my dad.
“He’s Welsh, works at GQ and will, in time, become a dear friend, a blinding success and Kylie Minogue’s fiancé. Hero, not pest. Kylie knows.”
Kylie and Paul, 46, have been dating for almost three years after being introduced by mutual friends.
But it is not the first time she has been forced to deny they are engaged, after being asked in an interview with The Sun last September — although she did not rule out getting married in the future.
Asked at the time if Paul had proposed, given she was wearing bands on her ring finger, Kylie said: “I just put these on today. So no. I literally put those on before.
“We’re really low-key, we’re very real, very supportive.
“We’re just taking things as they come for now, for always. Who knows what’s to come?”
Speaking about their relationship last year, the I Should Be So Lucky singer said: “He cares about my fans, he cares about my world, but mostly he cares about me.
“It’s so nice to have that one person who’s not involved in your tour, not in that way, and just wants to know that I’m OK.”
The singer, worth an estimated £60million, flew back to her native Australia late last month after spending Christmas with Paul.

She is expected to spend several weeks with her family until lockdown restrictions in the UK ease.
However, Paul is believed to still be in London.
