Rumors began to spread in early 2021 that Psaki would be leaving her role at the White House.
In May of that year, she then confirmed that she would be leaving sometime in 2022.
Speaking on podcast, Psaki said: “I think it’s going to be time for somebody else to have this job, in a year from now or about a year from now."
On May 5, 2022, President Joe Biden then announced that Karine Jean-Pierre would be taking her place.
A week later on Friday, May 13, Psaki held her final White House press conference.
The communications expert told the reporters in the room: "I want to thank all of you in this room."
"You have challenged me, you have pushed me, you have debated me, and at times we have disagreed. That is democracy in action."
The former press secretary further added: "Without accountability, without debate, the government is not as strong, and you all play an incredibly pivotal role."
"Thank you for making me better, and most importantly, thank you for the work every day you do to make this country stronger."
On May 24, 2022, MSNBC announced its plans for Psaki to host a new streaming program in 2023.
The network stated in a : "The program, set to debut in the first quarter of 2023, will bring together her unique perspective from behind the podium and her deep experience in the highest levels of government and presidential politics to MSNBC viewers."
"Psaki will also appear on NBC and during MSNBC’s primetime special election programming throughout the midterms and 2024 presidential election."
Network president Rashida Jones revealed: "Jen’s sharp wit and relatability combined with the mastery of the subjects she covers have made her a household name across the nation."

Who is former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki?
Connecticut native Psaki graduated from the College of William & Mary with a degree in English and Sociology in 2000.
She began her career in the early 2000s, working on the re-election campaigns of Iowa Democrats Tom Harkin for the Senate and Tom Vilsack for governor in 2001.
In 2004, Psaki then became deputy press secretary for John Kerry's presidential campaign before serving as communications director to Congressman Joseph Crowley the following year.
She also acted as press secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee until 2006.
