A COP refused to save a dying 5-year-old girl after accidentally shooting her because he didn't want to get blood on his uniform, the victim's mum has claimed.
Ana Clara Machado, 5, was holding her favourite doll when she was shot dead outside her home in Pendotiba in Brazil on Tuesday, according to reports.
"It was because the police officer dithered in wondering if he’d take her or not.
The officer in charge of the investigation said the cop gave contradictory statements when he was questioned.
The weapons used in the incident have been seized for forensic examination as part of the investigation.
"There was no exchange of gunfire, as they claim there was," Cristiane said.
"He’ll return home, he’ll see his son, he’ll see his wife, he’ll see his grandchildren, he’ll have his family. And mine? My daughter, will she return?"
Little Ana Clara was buried at the Sao Francisco Xavier Cemetery in Niteroi on Wednesday.
